It seems to me like a problem of the CPU (D1).

The status display of the CPU remains in an undefined state.

First, I would suggest to measure the 5V power supply to the D1 board. There is a green LED on D1 board for the +5V supply (V91 according to my schematics - although you seem to have a different version of the D1 board with different numbers of the LED's...)

You could then try to re-download the host software to the CPU and if this does not help then replace the D1 board.

The display does not show nothing, LED V39-V45(not V30-V36) does not shine. If you artificially create an error, an error message. It feels that the apparatus may wait indefinitely readiness of something.

I really don't know if the OT/UT option enables/disables the laser.

What is certain is that in no case all the DIP switches can be in the off position (this is clear from the configuration table).

Then, the board that is responsible for switching the laser on/off is the D2. If everything else (DIP switches etc.) fails, you should probably replace the D2 board to find out if it is defective. Unfortunately, no detailed schematic of the D2 is available to see the complete laser activation circuit.

If (and when) you find the problem, write a post describing what was the problem.

Take care.

Thanks Vesper, I know about the X5. I was going by memory. Is it possible that if the OT (Over Table) function is not used that the laser will not function? For example if the switch is set for (UT) under table the laser is useless so it is disabled?

Another remark on the G052G collimator:

The laser should be connected to X5 connector (D2 board) and not the X3 that you mention in your post. The X3 connector is for the fan.

(Assuming that your collimator is the one with design code G052G:)

The DIP-switch (S2) on D1 has nothing to do with the laser function.

See attached configuration table for the function of the switches.

I am working on a collimator for an Axiom Aristos FD. The collimator laser is not working. I tested the laser outside the circuit applying 5V. The laser works. There is 5V on the board but not on the connection X3. The collimator operates fine except for the laser. I am wondering if this is caused by a switch. There is a dip switch on the D1 board on the collimator and all the switches were off when the collimator came in. I know this is not right. Does anyone know which switch needs to be set on to activate the laser or does that matter at all?

When the status display on the D1 board stops, what is shown on the displays of kV, mA and min?

Is any of the red LED's (V30-V31-V32-V33-V34-V35-V36 on board D1) lit during initialisation?
